Lawn aeration is the process of removing cores of grass and soil from the lawn to create room for the lawn to grow more dense. The removed cores give room air, water, sun, fertilizer and seed can better reach the soil to nurture your lawn.

It also decompresses the soil allowing the grass roots to expand and make the turf more traffic resistant. Common services that can be completed at the same time as aeration include fertilization and overseeding.

​The best time for aeration is during the growing season, when the grass can heal and fill in any open areas after soil plugs are removed. Ideally, aerate the lawn with cool season grass in the early spring or fall and those with warm season grass in the late spring.
